SLAB home page: a concrete café interior with a cobalt spiral staircase, and the headline Coffee, poured into raw concrete.

The brief

A fictional specialty café in Milan's Tortona district, with a badminton court on its roof.

The idea

Concrete is honest: it shows how it was made. The site does the same, heavy and smooth, like a pour.

The idea comes before a single pixel. It decides the type, the colour, the motion, and what the 404 page does.

What it does

  1. Scroll like a pour

Heavy, smooth motion, with type that sets like it's been cast.

  2. Live open sign

Open or closed, worked out from Milan time, in the corner of every page.

  3. A booking flow

Tables and the rooftop court, without a third-party widget.

  4. English and Italian

Every page in both languages, one tap to switch, remembered for the next visit.

  5. A physics 404

Concrete letters you can pick up, throw and stack.
